Translation solution
Atom, 15.12.2024
This is a highly efficient solution for multi-language document translation.
Since our church community has members with 15 native languages, I've identified a few issues:
Some members' speeches are too long, taking up other people's time;
Some translation devices are broken, malfunctioning, or have depleted batteries, preventing them from functioning properly;
Due to noise from translation device headphones or microphones, or unclear speech from translators, listeners have difficulty hearing or understanding;
These issues limit the quality of our church's Sunday services. So, I considered a translation solution using an AI translation robot.
This solution offers the following advantages:
It can translate over 100 languages with virtually no limit on the number of words. The current average translation accuracy reaches the level of a language major bachelor's or master's student, and it requires no cost investment from the church;
It can calculate the word count of a speech before the speaker goes on stage and estimate the required speaking time, making it easier to control the event's flow;
The speech scripts are permanently stored on a webpage, allowing even those who are not physically present at the Sunday service to view them;
On-site attendees can read the speech scripts in their native language on their phones, ensuring they don't miss a single word and have a more accurate understanding;
The online scripts facilitate new church members' learning about the church's activity flow, doctrines, and covenants;
Requirements
Speakers must submit their speeches to me (the person responsible for IT) at least 30 minutes before going on stage. The translation will be completed and displayed on the webpage within a few minutes.
The church needs to provide a dedicated domain name. If the church does not have its own domain, we can also use a public domain on github.io for the hosted webpage.
Special Notes
Simultaneous interpretation services can be continued as a supplement.
It is not necessary for every speaker to prepare a speech in advance. Of course, it is better if there are scripts that can be shared publicly. These records will be permanently stored on the webpage, which is also a form of digital asset for the church.
Solution Demonstration (Residential Management Project)
This project's webpage looks like an e-book with a table of contents, and its page layout resembles a church library. As I mentioned a month ago, I will develop a residential management plan, which is also related to the church's mission work.
This is the first draft. Since the source language is Simplified Chinese, some of the content in my sections uses simplified slang. So, some of the content in the English and German translations may look a bit strange. I will continue to optimize the source document, but I am already eager to share it with my brothers and sisters.
Additionally, I need to write several different versions of the document:
1 poster (no more than 3 pages, 100 words)
1 PPT (no more than 12 pages, 500 words)
1 business plan (no more than 3 pages, 1000 words)
1 user manual (no more than 10 pages, 3000 words, for landlords, tenants, and missionaries);
Then, I will use these documents for public roadshow presentations. If I can attract some attention and receive positive feedback, I can start developing the software.
The next step may involve registering this project as a commercial company and a non-profit organization. I hope to collaborate with the church and donate the business revenue and digital assets to the church.
